after 4 months of being unable update v.1607- build 14971, no every available forum, daily wip feedback hub posts, found free-standing windows 10 creators update, (15063.138) downloaded , installed! dancing around room. fixed 'runaway cursor' problem haunted me on year. (well, almost, far less frequent, still present) sadly, regular fast ring updates same old inability continue updating, same error codes had been getting 14971, "there problems installing updates, we'll try again later. if keep seeing , want search web or contact support information, may help: • windows 10 insider preview 16176.1000 (rs_prerelease) - error 0x80070005".  cannot find manual file 16176, after running t/s , allegedly 'fixing' issues, same error again , again.

this last update (15063.138),  telling me there new update available (16176.1000) returns same old error when attempting update. prior new update, had 2 rings available, fast , slow. see error includes (rs_prerelease) update type. checked wip status, , last update includes rs_prerelease ring.

i switched fast rs_prerelease ring, , retried update, , get: "your device date" big green check mark!  not sure if date, or if on wrong ring? how find out?

updating computer newer version factor in issue. error code means there no enough permission perform actions or install updates. ask following question in resolving issue:

• are using microsoft account perform action or local account?
