App Updates Kill My Lumia 950 - Microsoft Community

since bought lumia 950 last year, have consistently had big problems app updates. example, couple of nights ago noticed there 3 app updates waiting installed - onenote, mail , officelens. took note of time pressed "update all" , waited updates install. after 1hr 20min had completed 1 install ran speed test using speedtest.net app. showed me download speed of 29.4mb/s, should have allowed phone download , update apps in few seconds, not few hours. after 3 hours battery getting low (see more detail below) , still downloading last app install cancelled download , restarted phone.

not updates take forever kill battery. other night drained 72% under 30% while trying download 3 updates above. today took around 80 minutes install single app , battery went 79% 56% during time. in past have discovered after finishing install, battery continue drain @ same terrifying rate, in habit of switching phone off 10 minutes after installs updates. allows cool down because gets hot when updating.

of course, these issues compounded how microsoft throws handful of app updates @ us. seems every second week have dozen apps need updating , microsoft apps.

this serious issue me , wonder if affecting else. similar issue used have xbox music on windows 8 - if bought album take several hours download songs, point seemed wasn't working @ all. issue fixed couple of years ago remains huge frustration. think may geographical. i'm in australia , wonder if updates coming server in kazakhstan or somewhere, instead of local mirror.
