Microsoft Edge Download\HTML5 Issues - Microsoft Community


hey guys,

i having issues edge. when try download files, download txt files or downloads fail. can manually go in , change file extensions, ie .exe, make these files work. download .txt files first.

my other issue edge trying browse html5 enabled websites. edge cannot handle html5 unless -inprivate browsing. again html5 works in edge, -inprivate browsing.

other info:

winbuild: 15063.332

edge: 40.15063.0.0

solutions tried:

i have attempted sfc /scannow, no problems found.

i have tried clear browser history , caches. edge says, "some data couldn't cleared. please try again."

i have tried deleting edge , reinstalling appxpackage powershell.

any insights appreciated. thank you!

we unable replicate concern download files using microsoft edge browser. able download files fine. try checking app updates.

as concern viewing html5 enabled websites, send feedback using feedback hub app.

to send feedback using said app, following:

  1. launch feedback hub app start menu.
  2. navigate feedback in left menu, press + add new feedback.
  3. select problem, , share detail think relevant, , choose appropriate category , subcategory.
  4. important: if possible, reproduce problem(s) after clicking begin monitoring (or start capture) near end of form; stop monitoring when done.
  5. once have completed form , monitoring, click submit.
