14986 installing, then "rolling back". Where to look as to - Microsoft Community


i'm trying update build 14986 on slow ring.

it downloads, installs, goes through couple reboots , after maybe 45 minutes gets done , poof "rolling previous version".  and time later i'm started.

where can take try figure out problem is?

when upgrade new build fails, these steps may enable succeed:
  • completely uninstall non-microsoft anti-virus software.
  • perform clean boot before upgrading. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135 
  • disconnect unneeded peripherals, such devices connected via usb , sd cards.
  • disable network adapters after build has downloaded, before restarts, or before running setup.exe, if upgrading via mounted iso or windows 10 install media.
sometimes disconnecting internet, such unplugging ethernet cable, enable stalled upgrade complete.

there should log recorded happened. check c:\windows\panther\setupact.log , cbd.log. there may details there.

the reliability history should indicate error encountered. type reliability in cortana search , choose view reliability history.
