INTERNET EXPLORER 11 STOPS WORKING SET ON AUTO UPDATES - Microsoft Community

4 months ago started having random internet disconnections had new replacement bt hub made no difference and pc checked errors problem still persists, wondered internet explorer problem notice time time stops working can please, keeps switching me off internet.   use windows 10 , office 2016 , believe pc 64 bit.  appreciate advice not technical. regularly run scans on avg internet security.

your best option correcting connection issues contact service provider (bt brittish telecom?) , have run diagnostics on connection.... in first instance, flashing light on modem.... should flashing once per second while active connection isp's servers on.... press reset button on modem (refer modems user manual instructions) if light not flashing...

ie not stop working if connection drops out.... see error page "cannot connect internet" message.....

ie stop working if have accidentally installed out of date addon or malware. avg anti virus product must keep date newest definitions.... should regularly update it. (there should options check updates on control panel)

scan computer using windows defender .... winkey+s > windows defender

to detect , remove out-of-date or known malicious addons ie browser.

to disable browser addons in ie, select tools>internet options>advanced tab, uncheck "enable third-party browser extensions". save changes clicking ok button, close , restart ie full changes take affect..... stop toolbar , browser helper addons loading ie... may have without addons.... aside: many browser addons eg. searching, form filling , popup blocking no longer needed, because ie has features built in it.
