neither of had experience of windows 8 desktop o/s , heard such negative reports both media , friends, delighted find loved - smooth, fast , intuitive!
both loved , functionality of live tiles , felt made android , ios dated.
within weeks found being offered windows 8.1 update - wife accepted on 625 , yet own 625 handset refused update!
eventually, week outside of 2 year warranty, went wrong on phone - bought brand new (old stock) identical nokia 625 direct replacement cheaply on ebay. new handset accepted update windows 8.1 no bother.
however, neither of our phones seem able update onto windows 10.
baffled staff @ major high street phones chain have our contracts totally unable tell why phones tell updated no outstanding updates install?
finding more , more apps disappearing off our phones!!
first, paypal - major inconvenience lose paypal app! lost app watching catch or live tv on bbc iplayer... ebay went off our platform... messenger has deserted us, well.
meanwhile, months own phone never connect microsoft store!!
staff @ our high street major phones warehouse have our contract shrug, offer no help, except windows phone dying brand , apps deserting - tell must go on android or iphone!
find unacceptable told good, fast, slick, pleasant use phones less 3 years old obsolete , though high street warehouse has big display of windows 10 phones, member of staff told walks customers straight past them, pretending not there!
next door shop ee outlet - firm have our phone service - go in couple of days ago ask advice , time assured windows phones such dead brand don't stock them!!
microsoft comment whether windows o/s phones still going on sale or supported, in future? why our less 3 year old expensive lumia 625 handsets won't update windows 10? whether lost paypal, ebay, iplayer , messenger apps become available again if somehow manage go on windows 10 mobile? also, please explain why phone cannot connect microsoft store , way remedy this? finally, acceptable smooth, modern, slick, operating system both enjoyed , far see, didn't need fixed, should somehow go out of date , become unable use or install best known apps , software updates, in little on 2 years - rendering our expensive high end handsets obsolete?
there no way make easy have brutally honest:
your lumia 625 handsets never high end or expensive, in lower spectrum of lumia mid-range offering @ time.
the lumia 625 released market in summer of 2013, @ time bought yours year old , 4 years old. , yes, obsolete. still work there no updates , app support dwindle down time.
the luimia 625 cannot updated windows 10 mobile because hardware cannot support , w10m cannot run on it.
the third party apps respective owners , developers have discontinued support never available again. intents , purposes wp8.1 dead , getting closer end of support cycle each day.
at present there no windows mobile offerings microsoft, there no current production, models released far available far there stock left. there windows phones other manufacturers in market. if , when ms release mobile device, no 1 knows.
regarding problem connecting store, please start separate thread on issue, providing full details, i.e. error message , have tried connecting on wifi , on mobile data connection.
