Windows phone WiFi problems - Microsoft Community

hi,

i struggling second lumia , it's wifi. first lumia 930 , have lumia 950. great phones.... wifi not good. have read +200 posts on problem... , yet not solved. update after update... on insider update....still randomly not connect known network had connected to. so.... seeing ms not want professional , admit there problems phones ( think drivers of wifi atheros chip), can not money phone isn't working should. besides that, extremely irritating notification not work, messages don't delivered....while phone 1 , wifi too...becuase phone didn't connect. 

so, i'm stuck bad ms product????

i want try , fix myself then. ms me? saw of issue solved switching airplane mode on , off again. so, becuase missing power saving options in windows phone in case, thought make app switch lumia's airplane mode on , off @ time slot of every hour..... actaully, want wifi.

i read not allowed..... how can myself if ms doesn't want it? if ms want solve it, give away ourselves on bad product.

why can ms not me or develop such simple app solve problem maybe them , add real value extend battery life on windows phone platform @ end.

ps . no, not router. 4 cheap android phone + 2 ipads have no such issues!

check if these troubleshooting steps further:

1. restart phone, check wifi connection icon on phone screen, , move closer wifi access point better signal.
2. make sure phone not in battery saver mode (settings > system > battery saver, lumia windows phone 8: settings > battery saver).
3. disable bluetooth connectivity in phone while being connected wifi (settings > devices > bluetooth, lumia windows phone 8: settings > bluetooth). bluetooth , wifi operate on same frequency range , may interfere each other.
4. if cannot connect network have connected before, try deleting network phone: settings > network & wireless > wifi > manage, under known networks, tap , hold network name, tap delete. (lumia windows phone 8: settings > wifi > manage (advanced), under known networks, tap , hold network name, tap delete.) deleting network delete associated settings on phone. after that, tap wifi network in list of networks, try connect again.
5. if there no sim card in phone, try inserting sim , check not in airplane mode. if there no sim card in phone, of country-specific wifi features may not available when phone not know location.
6. check if can connect phone wifi network (for example using internet sharing feature of phone).
7. using mobile data, check if there new software available phone: tap settings > update & security > phone update (lumia windows phone 8: settings > phone update).

if having trouble connecting home wifi network.

1. restart router (some routers should switched off 2 minutes periodically allow background updates).
2. check password in secure network of phone configured , phone's security settings match settings of home wifi network. if keep getting incorrect password error, log in wireless router, , change operating mode 802.11b/g/n 802.11g only, , restart/reset router, , try create connection again.
3. check wifi network not configured filter access based on device mac address. if using mac-based filtering, mac address of phone must added in filter list. can find phone's mac address in settings > system > > more information (lumia windows phone 8: settings > > more information). should listed under device information.
4. disable other active network services such video streaming , online games.
5. check on router's support page has latest firmware installed.
   

if having trouble connecting public wifi hotspot.

1. check if authentication needed public wifi hotspot. though wifi network open, may still need authenticate username , password on phone browser before can access internet. may need re-authenticate after authentication timeout expires. disconnect , reconnect wifi network in settings > network & wireless > wifi (lumia windows phone 8: settings > wifi) if not authentication prompt.
2. especially public wifi hotspots, maximum number of users may connected. wait while , try again, or wifi hotspot.
