Edge and IE 11 report incorrect version - Microsoft Community

i getting messages web pages version of internet explorer , edge out of date , need upgraded.

i have 6-month old pc came installed windows 10, ie 11 , edge, if go shows have current version of both pieces of software. @ first tolerable, getting point, assume sites upgraded, both browsers becoming unusable.

switching "third party" browser isn't option similar messages sites them.

i have been investigating off , on several months, playing compatibility settings, activex controls , other settings recommended in various posts, both here , elsewhere, no success.

some folks have recommended registry fixes, reluctant mess around in there not knowing source of suggestion.

if aware of fix problem, or method of uninstalling , reinstalling ie11 can clean environment, it appreciated.
