I want to backup my phone to my PC - How can I do that? What - Microsoft Community

has been locked 3 , half years yet microsoft has yet respond problem.

there still no way backup windows phone windows pc or standalone backup.  should not surprising appears microsoft abandoning phone market.  wireless phone companies dropping support if ever had it.  verizon offers 1 windows phone , doesn't support it.

microsoft talks making windows phone small pc supplying interface mouse, keyboard , monitor.  1 of key requirements of pc bare metal backup , none of windows phones come close providing that. 

unless microsoft provides way make complete local backup (no cloud) of windows phone cannot considered serious player in phone space.

i have been working computers since 1966.  have used microsoft products since beginning of time: dos, windows 1.01 on 2 diskette machine then...

every prior system had way complete local backup until windows phone.  policy says:  if cannot cannot use it.  company undergoing edp audit did not have policy in place , enforced rate management comment in letter board of directors.  individual did not follow same policy asking problems.

if work consulting company or independent consultant , go client meeting windows phone you start out with a competency question hanging on head.  how can provide advice backup , recovery when can't own equipment?

on side note interesting in dropdown list under topics microsoft not provide choices backup , recovery.

i understand saying design device to  pc not available.

as thread mentioned indicates "what can sync pictures, music, videos computer. apps  you have up list options in settings> in phone can't apps in pc , sms have option.

 so if happens phone , need hard reset or replace it, restored after added microsoft account."

your contacts , calendar information stored in cloud under user id name. if wipe device , set fresh use same live id, of information returns. pictures stored on onedrive if auto backup enabled not lose them. setting device fresh still have access of them , can if needed download pictures device if needed.

i save documents important me onedrive well. not have backup able access different devices. documents important , want on device can downloaded device onedrive.

all of programs saved under library in store. have list of have installed. can restore backup prefer not , clean install add list apps want or need have (all add apps after while don't use anymore. don't want them restored backup).

keep in mind os hard coded on device , in opinion, why want backup. because hard coded there no need up.

i understand saying serves no purpose in opinion. on pc (particularly years ago incredibly important) not on phone. if save pc, not restore on different device because of hardware.
