vb.net DataGridView displays gibberish - Microsoft Community


using visual studio 2012 visual basic.  creating complex application , added form manage access database (2007 version).  i using workstation windows 10.  accessing database , getting data dataset works fine.  i have programatically accessed dataset verify correctness of data.  when assigned datagridview.datasource correct number of rows , columns displayed; however, of data presented single-character rectangles , other single-character graphic-characters.  the gibberish characters appear correct width.  it appears if there character mapping issue.

if attempt programatically add rows of string data dataset, displayed gibberish.

any suggestions?
